Swimming Pools

USA: Swimming Pools: Swimming Pool Contractors

There are three main types of in-ground swimming pool construction: Concrete, Vinyl Liner, and Fiberglass. Within the Concrete category there are four technologies: Concrete Block, Poured Concrete, Gunite Pools, and Shotcrete. Concrete pools tend to be more expensive than vinyl liner pools or fiberglass pools, but do have the advantage of being more durable.

Vinyl Liner Pools are formed from structural panels, normally made of structural polymer, which are braced at intervals to maintain the vertical agains the water pressure. A computer-cut vinyl liner is then inserted in the pool. Vinyl Liner Pools may be supplied with substantial thermal insulation to the sides and bottom, reducing the amount of energy needed to heat the pool. Optional features available for all pools include pool steps, pool lighting, spas, and water features.
